We take a look at Carlos Alcaraz’ coaching team, as well as his agent, physio and doctor, ahead of the 2022 US Open final.

Carlos Alcaraz is into his first Grand Slam final at the 2022 US Open, where he takes on Casper Ruud. If Alcaraz is able to win the US Open, he will become the youngest player (19 years and four months) to become world no.1 since Lleyton Hewitt, who was 20 when he became world No. 1 in 2001.

This year, Alcaraz won his first ATP 500 title at the Rio Open in February 2022. He then won his first ATP Tour Masters 1000 title at the Miami Open. He went on to win his second at the 2022 Mutua Madrid Open, beating defending champion Alexander Zverev.

Carlos Alcaraz’ primary coach is Juan Carlos Ferrero

Carlos Alcaraz’ coach is Juan Carlos Ferrero. Ferrero is a Spanish former world no. 1 and 2003 French Open champion, who first starting coaching with Alexander Zverev.

However, in recent years, he has been working closely with Alcaraz at his Equelite Academy. Speaking about how talented Carlos is, Juan said (via Tennis Majors):

“It is difficult to compare [anyone] to Roger Federer, of course, but if I had to say one name [in comparison to Carlos], I’m looking for somebody that is very aggressive and is able to do a lot of things on the court, and Roger is the best in these situations. He can play on any surface and can play any type of style.”

He told the ATP Tour in New York this week: “He has a special way of connecting with people, it’s really magnetic.

“The way he gives his all on court and plays, with that intensity and speed in his shots. He can do so many things during a match and that’s what people are entertained by. I enjoy watching him play, and I’ve been involved in the world of tennis for so long.”

The rest of Carlos Alcaraz’ coaching team

Carlos Alcaraz coaching team is made up of several other individuals too. There’s Juanjo Moreno, who is Carlos’ physiotherapist.

Carlos credited Juanjo Moreno for his success in the 2022 Miami Open final. He said: “Well, he told me that everybody knows it’s going to be my first final, but trying to think that this is the first match of the tournament, try to manage the nerves like I did in the semi-final.”

Moreno added: “If I had to highlight two strong points of Carlos, I would prefer his talent and the culture of effort he received from the team.”

There’s also Alberto Molina Lopez in Alcaraz’ corner. Lopez has been Carlos’ agent and manager since the age of 13. He is a former representative of David Ferrer and Nicolás Almagro. Alberton is an agent at multinational IMG, one of the biggest sports agencies in the world. He has linked Alcaraz with sponsors such as Nike, Rolex, and Babolat.

Other members of Alcaraz’ team include Alberto Lledó (fitness coach), Álex Sánchez (fitness coach), Fran Rubio (physio) and Juan José López (doctor).

“I’m a bull!”

Alcaraz beat Italian Jannik Sinner in the quarter-finals of the US Open in an epic match that lasted 5 hours and 18 minutes.

As reported by Marca, during the fifth set, when he was leading 6-5, Alcaraz started a shouting match with his coaches as a source of motivation.

“I’m a bull, I’m a bull!” Alcaraz shouted, which Ferrero said were self-help phrases designed to get rid of his fatigue and motivate him.
