Moving backwards

The Broncos have taken multiple delay of game penalties in both of their games this year, and now the crowd is trying to help. Fans just sang “5, 4, 3, 2, 1” as the clock wound down before a play.

The Broncos’ four delay of game penalties this season (and counting) are the most of any team in the NFL.

The new Atlanta Falcons

Atlanta head coach Arthur Smith is eager to change the narrative around the Falcons. Coming back from a 28-3 deficit against the Rams would have gone a long way toward it, but Atlanta comeback falls short in SoFi Stadium as Falcons can’t get off final Hail Mary attempt in 31-27 loss.

Play of the year?

Unbelievable catch by Marquise Brown that was initially ruled a Cardinals touchdown. Upon review, the ball is placed at the 1/2-yard line. But still an incredible catch and throw from Kyler Murray on fourth-and-4. The Cardinal scored a touchdown a play later on a 1-yard run by Darrel Williams. The two-point conversion is good — as Murray danced around in the backfield and eluded the pass rush for about 15 seconds before running it in. It’s now a one-possession game in Las Vegas as the Raiders’ lead is trimmed to 23-15.

49ers cap off a 13-play drive

The Seahawks nearly mustered another stop in the red zone, but Jimmy Garoppolo scores on a 1-yard QB sneak on fourth-and-goal. That should wrap this one up, with Seattle trailing 27-7 with less than two minutes to play. The Seahawks have only 172 total yards of offense while allowing 189 on the ground alone.

Scoop and score!

The Falcons blocked a Rams punt and Lorenzo Carter scooped it up and returned it 26 yards for the touchdown. The ensuing two-point conversion was good, cutting the Rams’ lead to 31-25 with less than five minutes to play.

Seattle struggling to pass-protect

One of the biggest issues for the Seahawks’ offense today has been protection, as Geno Smith has been under near-constant pressure. He’s been sacked twice (1.5 by Nick Bosa) and hit nine times (five by Bosa) on 26 dropbacks. Left guard Damien Lewis (thigh), who missed Week 1 with an injury, left in the first half Sunday and has now been ruled out.

Where’s Isaiah Simmons?

Cardinals linebacker Isaiah Simmons came into the season wearing the green dot on his helmet as the defensive player with the radio to the sidelines. According to TruMedia, he has only played four snaps today as a sub with no indication of any injuries. Could Simmons be considered a liability in coverage for the Cardinals facing Darren Waller after issues with Travis Kelce in Week 1?
